VEHICLE FITMENT:
The most important factor for leak-free header gaskets is the way that the header gasket is installed.
It is very important to follow the installation instructions when installing the gaskets.
The Gasket Installation steps to follow are:
1st check the exhaust header flange is straight with a metal straight edge.
Install headers and gaskets and tighten bolts tight to correct torque starting in the middle of the header flange and working out on both sides.
Run the engine and allow the headers to get hot.
Shut the engine down and allow the engine to cool.
When cool re tighten the header bolts again to correct torque.
Operate the vehicle for 200 to 300 miles.
When the engine is cool re tighten the bolts one more time to correct torque
If this procedure is followed, the header bolts should remain tight, and the gaskets should last for many years.
Checking the bolts once in a while is also a good idea - just make sure that everything remains tight, and you don’t blow a header gasket.
Works on Most Headers
BBK header bolts for Ford Modular engine feature a 25mm under head length, making them them long enough to work with all BBK headers or any other headers with up to a 3/8" flange.
